This is a 6year old Chromebook, and it is refurbished, it's essentially an e-waste at this point.

My only concern is the battery. If the chromebook is a few years old, the battery would barely work. Today, I sent messages to Ebay acer and inquire about the battery. I asked if they install new battery or inspect the battery. They did not answer those questions. But when I asked if I can purchase a new battery on a refurbished chromebook and install it myself, they replied it is possible for some models.

Bottom line, the battery is the issue. I learned it from buying a refurbished 5 year old laptop.

I have a 14yr old Lenovo laptop that can still go 3 hours with the extended battery. All depends on the system and use.

It's a no-brainer.
My only concerns would be support (Auto Updates). This model is not listed but C523 lists as up to Jun 2027* . The * means it has problems with the so-called Extended Updates (must opt in to extended updates to receive the full 10 years of support) - wtf?!!

I still have Toshiba Satellite from 2008. If it can start up, I am sure the battery still works.
It is not able to start up because the internal battery died. It is nearly impossible to replace the internal button battery because of design.

Meanwhile, my 2009 HP laptop is still going strong after all these years of constant use. Just needed to replace the HDD. Battery only lasts 20 minutes.

Jesus, 13 years ago i had a C720 chromebook with the same exact performance. Haswell 2955U and 4gb. It had a switch that let you wipe chrome os and boot linux, so actually very usable.

Something like this might be useful if it had AV1 and HEVC hardware decoding, but that seems unlikely. At 110, I think it would be better than a cheap tablet in usefulness still.

I still do have it. Linux has everything.
