Isn't 6 to 7 is a bit disappointing with an AMD chip and an 86whr battery? I would expect this kind of battery with Intel chip.

Another question: Why is this worth 1500 a good deal without a dGPU? Is the AMD Pro chip that good?

Seems like this is more performance/work focused than battery life.

Base 2 GHz, I guess that explains TDP of only 28 W. Supports hardware virtualization. 50 TOPS.

I think 6–7 is "acceptable." What's not acceptable is that the AI 9 config I really wanted doesn't come with a high-DPI OLED, only 1920x1200. On price, you get a high-quality machine, the best keyboard of any laptop in my opinion, trackpoint with mouse buttons, and the best onsite tech support. I've had 15–20 laptops, and for a work machine used 40–60 hours a week, ThinkPads are the only Windows machines I'll use.

I think you have that kind of backwards actually.

Intel Ultras are generally more energy efficient than their AMD counterparts these days. Intel has almost always been more energy efficient than AMD except for a brief little 3-4 year blip a few years ago when Intel was resting on their laurels AMD smoked them in both performance and energy efficiency for a bit. Even still the "official" specs claimed Intel was more energy efficient at the time, but real world testing showed they were not at that time. Now Intel is back in the lead with energy efficiency excepting the Z1 and Z2 chips which don't really count, but AMD still has them beat in overall performance.

This list still isn't perfect but it at least gives a general idea.

You'll notice the CPU used in this particular laptop falls about 2/3rds of the way down the list. It's still pretty energy efficient but nowhere near the laptop variants of the current Intel Ultras or some other AMDs like the Ryzen 7 6810U.

Side note: I don't know why they include the Z1 Extreme in the list as it's not being used in laptops or desktops, or why they have the Z1 but not the Z2.
