I wonder if these come infected with malware on a software level or on a chipset/bios level....
I wonder if you BS on every thread. There have never been any reports of malware on any GMKTec devices.

Not really a good price for this - not terrible but better off getting the minis forum AI 370 one with 32g and 1tb for 636 - if you could get this for $325 it makes sense

Wow, you really can't get enough of me. I'm flattered that you're hunting me down like this for my professional input...only if it wasn't just a little....odd? creepy?(edit: I've tried to report this behavior to a mod as stalking/harassment, but apparently since you're not namecalling or insulting me, it's perfectly OK to follow a user on here, baiting them with copy-paste messages. So...enjoy? It's not what I'd do, but you do you.)Anywho, to answer your claim - I did a google search "GMKTec malware", and the first result was a reddit thread. And people have screenshots in there with a "Autorun!atmn" worm on a brand new, non-networked install -- detected by Windows Defender. It really wasn't that hard to find if you look for it. That's ok though, if you feel the need to defend malware infested windows machines with the same vigor as you defend sub-par macs. Have a nice day!
He literally posted the deal that you are commenting on. I don't get it.

K8 Plus (8845HS) is a much better purchase.

$475 for K11 (8945HS) WITHOUT ram, ssd, or Windows license.
$520 for K8 Plus, that includes 32gb DDR5 ram, 1tb NVME SSD, and Windows 11 license. (Amazon and GMK website)

You will see zero difference in performance, but probably more heat.

The AOOSTAR with the 8745HS is $299 right now (I paid $329 about two months ago).
It is 300 mhz less and doesnt have the NPU (16 TOPS is not that fast), but you save $170. It has the all-important oculink port and all of the usual fixins.

Even if you juice up the CPUs to 75 watts, you will never run all of the cores at the 4.9 ghz, let alone 5.2 ghz. It makes a ton more noise for basically nothing (regardless of brand)

I had the M7 and the K8 for a while and had no issues with either. The only benchmark between AOOSTAR and GMKTec showed the GMKTec being faster due to adjustable frame buffer for the shared VRAM, which I can 100% attest is also adjustable (though buried in the BIOS) on the AOOSTAR, up to 16g.

Honestly, if it werent for their anti-oculink position, I would go for Beelink, but given that they are all in on their proprietary dock for their GTi series, I knew that wasnt going to happen.

I thought the same, but didn't express my opinion as doing so without providing context is fruitless for the community.

I think it's smart to ask questions as there is a very real cyber war between China and the US. Google is even looking at starting a campaign to hit them back. So while I understand your frustration with people just going "scary China!" I think there are some real concerns. Whether or not this particular device is being used to get malware in the US isn't really the right question to ask. There are a thousand other ways we are vulnerable to China. Just have to be balanced and level-headed rather than alarmist.

He literally started the thread-- you hunted him. It's like you punched someone and when they punched you back you said "wow you just can't leave me alone huh?!" And then you REPORT them? You can ask real questions without shitposting every thread you enter, in 20 years on Slickdeals I've never seen someone so downvoted in every single comment they make. How do you explain that, do you think everyone else is the problem?
