5ah batteries are 5ah batteries the XR moniker only originally mattered on tools (to distinguish brushless tools)... They recently updated the cases on the batteries and they dont say XR anymore. I believe their plan is to move the XR over the the "power stack" battery line

How does this deal compare to other deals? Is Black Friday best time for batteries and tools?

$99 is the lowest I've ever gotten this combo of batteries & charger, and when I bought them 2 years ago Home Depot had the kit on clearance. This is a great deal IMO.

Are these XR batteries? I ordered one of the other deals by Fastener where the picture showed XR batteries but the ones that arrived were not.

Sounds like these are not XR's, but I haven't been researching much but am considering grabbing these. Seems like there are tons of bad reviews on this specific set: https://www.dewalt.com/product/dc...attery-kit

Anyone running these and happy with them? I don't use my tools daily, but I have a mix of old 18V tools I'll use the 20V adapter on, some 20V, and I'm planning on buying some 20V Dewalt yard tools so these would be nice to have in that mix.
Thinking 2 genuine batteries with a charger, XR or not is a solid deal.

It's showing $8.74 shipping for me but isn't charging sales tax so basically free shipping. I don't need another charger, though.

Same here, no tax charged. Got a pop up for $10 off first order, but code didn't work so not sure if it met the minimum or whatever.

This is a great deal. If I didn't already have a pile of dewalt batteries, I'd be all over this.

I'm a life long Makita guy that recently purchased a couple DeWalt 20V tools. My hammer drill came with a Powerpack battery that is said to be tabless. Is tabless much better than these? - Thanks

DeWalt no longer slaps the XR on their batteries even though they are.

Rumor is they are going to be adding it back because the public thought the batteries without the XR branding were worse.

These batteries use 18650 cells (two rows of five) and have a rated maximum current of 40A (20A per row). The POWERPACK batteries use 21700 cells which are a little larger but generally have higher current ratings. The tabless design also allows them to be rated at a higher current. The 8Ah tabless battery pack (DCB2108) has ten 21700s (two rows of five) with a maximum rated current of 120A (60A per row) and the newly-released 4Ah tabless battery pack (DCB2104) has five 21700s (one rows of five) with a maximum rated current of 60A. On the majority of tools there will be very little, if any difference between the performance of a tabless battery pack and this one. However for high-power tools (e.g., impact wrenchs, large saws etc) the difference is appreciable.
