I'm still using the same t420 I bought in June of 2011.

I'm seeing $1709 in my cart.

edit: These are pretty popular at work for regular/mobile business use. Our power users/engrs prefer the larger workstation style ThinkPads.

NOT edit2: at Review and Pay, the price updates correctly to $1,425.09

edit3: scratch that.. it's trying to use Rewards credits so my total cost is still in the $1,845 range

My work gave me a T16 and I was pretty disappointed in it after hearing about how good Thinkpads are.

The fingerprint sensor didn't work on the first boot until 3 months later when a new firmware update was installed. And if I type too fast the laptop beeps at me.

Also, anyone else find the mouse nub pretty useless when the trackoad is perfectly fine?
I personally prefer the nub over the trackpad on Lenovos and Dells. However I have multiple MacBooks and I like Apple's trackpad too!

retired the W520 last year. I would have still used it, but some issues with the power switch (tried multiple keyboards) prevented me from using it as a daily driver (it feels bulky compared to today's laptops).
We used the W510 > P51 > P53 and they've been solid, reliable workhorses built like a tank. Unfortunately, they're heavy also.

Too expensive for a Carbon X1 variant and price is better suited around the $1100 range or less. You might as well look into the Legion mid-entry laptops at $1400.

My T530 dropped on the floor multiple times, mighty workhorse, still running like a charm....

Super duper tempting. Lenovo slaps decent displays on this line. Always preferred the key travel on the X1 series over what we see on Macs and chiclets in general. Stopped using my Alder Lake X1 thanks to the fan noise and throttling being so damn egregious. If I could just change one thing on this series, it's the trackpad buttons, rather they just got rid of them and expanded the touchpad surface area instead. Would totally buy the Z13 or Z16 if they'd refresh that series for this reason.
If you do the custom build, you can get the trackpoint with a haptic trackpad (with no buttons). I'm finally using a laptop that doesn't have a trackpoint and still trying to get used to not having it.... I miss it..

Lenovo's are such junk. Good luck.

Dude, you and me both... except I got my T420 in 2012. Unfortunately the keyboard on the T420 is the last of its kind.

Is this dead? I am not able to reproduce the same price and am getting $1,749.01 before taxes.

Wait, they let you remove the buttons? And put in a bigger touchpad?

yes, and often times it's a $0 change.
