1800 PSI seems kinda meh though? Should I hold out for a deal on a 2500 psi model? Wirecutter likes the RY142500.

I have an older 1600 psi version and it works great for washing cars, cleaning driveways with the attachment, and car undercarriage with a different attachment.

Edit: I don't think I'm using a ryobi drive way cleaner attachment I'd imagine this works as well.

Means nothing. It's about equivalent to buying a 7hp shopvac that will never pull more than 2hp from the wall outlet, as higher would immediately trip the breaker.

At 12-inches with the 0-degree tip, a 2500psi pressure washer may push 50psi. A 1700psi pressure washer may be 2/3 that, but it's likely much closer. Switch to an equivalent 15-degree tip on both and they will be about the same; the increased orifice size makes the pump gpm the limitation. A "1200psi" 2.0gpm 120V pressure washer would perform far better.

Few electric 120V pressure washers even come close to their pump's rating at the tip - 1000-1200psi at the tip is normal. You know how when you pull the wand trigger, you get a burst of water, then it smooths out (especially on more powerful/gas units)? That's closer to the higher pressure of the pump's peak rating, but it can't maintain that pressure. Once the spray gets larger than the tiny hole in the tip, it continues to drop off in pressure exponentially.

Don't think I can trust Ryobi for pressure washers. They just had a recall for another model because the pressure chamber explodes. There have been 41 reports of explosions that resulted in 32 injuries. Buy at your own risk.

Pretty much this. The recalled products had 135 reports of 780k sold (about 2 in 10,000) but with all the non-reports it's possible it's closer to 1 in 1,000. This might seem low, but it really isn't an acceptable risk for any consumer product. They couldn't pay me $99 or even $1000 to regularly use one of their electric pressure washers right now. Hospitals are expensive, lol.

It is a capacitor exploding, not the pressure chamber. Now THAT would be a big problem.

I have a similar model and the biggest recommendation I can give is skip it. Not cause of the pressure but because of the lack of wheels.
