Yes, this is an IPS display with touchscreen capabilities as well. This computer is well worth the price if you're looking for a basic laptop that doesn't require 'power user' type situations. The charger that comes with it is pretty janky but the USB C port also allows for charging as well. The other things to be aware of are that the built in speakers are terrible and the screen isn't anything to brag about, but for the price, it's a great little laptop with specs that far surpass most of the competition.

Thank you OP for posting.

1) Does anyone know the difference between between the conditions: "Certified - Refurbished" vs "Good - Refurbished", which was advertised by the same Acer Vendor?

2) Can I add more RAM and 2nd SSD/HDD?

3) Can I add a graphics card?

Thanks for your honest opinion.

Hard to tell 100% without a model number but based on Amazon reviews of which seems likely to be the same product looks like no go on RAM/storage upgrades.

This looks like a laptop to just use as-is.

Not bad specs but for folks who care about graphics, build, and longevity I would keep looking. And for that reason I'm out!

Yeah this thing has come up on SD multiple times now. We bought one May of last year and it's been fine and actually has had a ton of BIOS updates through Acer. Plenty of support. Probably because of the Costco connection.

Wish I had a better answer to these very good questions Smilie .. but off the top of my head I'd guess no to adding ram, second hard drive and/or graphics card ... thsi is a different model number but it's also a A315-24PT and I've found with the acer laptops as long as the first part of the model number is the same info on upgrades is often the same

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7hZSQd1WEjM

This youtube talks about being able to replace the hard drive with a bigger one.. and that's pretty much about it.

There was an acer aspire A315-44P on slickdeals a while back which offered some crazy upgrade options given the cheap price ($320 with tax) .. one 16 GB stick of ram included with another ram slot free to put a matching 16 GB stick of ram in there, one m2 drive slot occupied with a 512 GB stick of ram and a free m2 slot to put a second m2 drive in.. but it's very much a get what you pay for sort of thing and I'm sure a lot of people on slickdeals would have a problem with this laptop if it was being used for anything other than the absolute basic of basics (surf the internet, college/university student type stuff like working with microsoft word/excel documents, that sort of thing) ...

This may not be what you want to hear Smilie but.. with stuff like that .. and totally understandable far as wanting to upgrade it but.. to the best of my knowledge you normally can't just swap out the graphics card in a laptop like that, at best you can add ram and possible a second hard drive.. but that normally comes with a higher price tag than this model here. I did some quick google research and from what I can see this laptop has upgradeable ram (comes with a measly 8 GB ram not nearly enough in my opinion) and a second m2 drive slot but.. it's $800 not including tax (I would personally go with the shipped and sold directly by amazon for the best possible customer service in terms of being able to send it back for a refund if there's a problem). There were acer nitro laptops in the past around the $600 mark on sale that definitely had upgradable ram and a second m2 drive as I recall not sure if this one will drop to the $600 mark and/or acer nitro laptops in general

Again that's just off the top of my head I'm guessing more knowledgeable people here could give you better info far as what you're looking for.

Or you could post the same question say here on this part of reddit and make sure to mention your budget/maximum dollars you can spend

because I'm paranoid Stick Out Tongue I personally hesitate to buy refurbished laptops but I've heard that a lot of people take a gamble on it and the laptop works just fine for them. Do bear in mind it is a previously used laptop so you wouldn't know say how old the battery is in it, if there were problems with the laptop the tired and overworked acer tech support guy may have missed out on when he was checking the laptop to see if it was suitable to be resold and so on..

$234.99 Good Refurbished sold by Acer via eBay.

"1-year warranty: This item has a 1-year warranty serviced by Allstate."

Since there's no mention of the model number, I can't confirm if this has an IPS or TN display.
