I think many, like us, keep their containers in cabinets where it is dark.

It does say it is grey and has a UV blocking tint to it.

Would think you'd want a container that allows you to pump out the air when storing coffee.

Usually OXO makes good stuff (or at least used to) so I'm kind of surprised to see a clear coffee storage container, since light is not coffee beans' friend, not just UV...

Wish Oxo would make a more affordable AirScape Planetary Design type coffee canister.

We've had one of those clear acrylic hinged-lid thingies for probably 25 years, and it developed a crack recently. I know this seems like a pretty good deal in comparison to whatever else is on the market, but at this price I'd be tempted to wrap some grip tape around one of two quart Mason jars with the plastic / silicone seal lids and YOLO.

Using the vacuum pump on the second jar would be an upgrade from what we're doing now, but open coffee doesn't sit around too long anyhow.

Based on some reviews, these seem to provide a worse seal vs the white plastic top version due to a change in the lid design. I've been using the plastic top version to store coffee beans for years now and never had an issue with the seal.

Exactly what I was thinking. I've never seen a clear bag of coffee. There's a reason!

True, and I do as well, I'm just prejudiced against coffee containers I can see through. 😁

I had some oxo containers that I have replaced. One held brown sugar with the disc you soak in water so the brown sugar doesn't dry out. It always did. The one to hold sleeves of saltines was not quite tall enough and I believe they would push up on the top and the air seal would give way too easily. The crackers went stale way too quickly.

I am now using rubbermaid brilliance and I like their seal and locking feature much better. Target has them on sale 20% off this week. The prices on their app were better than the in store price.

Yeah, I learned that it being airtight doesn't do anything if there's no mechanism to remove the air that gets in when you open it.

Uhhh, you don't have to store coffee in this. I got a couple of these and use it for sugar and flour. Was cheaper than the non coffee ones with scoop.
