yep, Yolink has been absolutely awesome. I started out with some of their other temperature sensors that have probes to monitor some of my HVAC systems. I bought their pool thermometer last year and it's worked absolutely flawless all year. https://a.co/d/6hp4V38

but yeah, CCP will always know!

I bought a spacer heater from these peopres, it worked fine for a couple years, now CCP Govee requires you to login just to turn it on over bluetooth.

I got a random no name "dumb" one on Amazon in summer 2023 and it's lasted since then never being taken out of the pool even through 2 winterizations. It's solar powered and has a little station we keep on the windowsill above the kitchen sink. Paid $30 for it.

i have this exact govee (sits on my isolated guest wireless network which strictly allows only direct internet access else on the network) - and has worked great for 11 months, then when it leaked, I used the govee app and they shipped me another plus a bonus one the next day. For the replacement I sealed it up with some waterproof grease to see if it'll last more than 11 months. So CCP knowing my pool temperature aside, I've been happy.

Do people really need to constantly check their pool temperature?

I dip in a digital kitchen thermometer every week or two, just out of curiosity, but it's not like it shifts by 10 degrees a day.

Hot tub. You don't want it to suddenly freeze in the winter time, because something happened to the heaters and/or pump. My HA automation (with the wired temp probe) sends me alerts if the temperature drops below 90F.

FYI. There are ongoing efforts to add H5109 temp sensor to Home Assistant, to be able to read data via 433MHz SDR without the govee gateway.

Okay valid point.
Living in FL makes me forget that frozen water can be a real thing. 😄

I do.

Not everyone lives in your climate. I live in the northeast and have a pool heater. I like to know if I should turn it on and how early in the day depending on when I want to swim.

I had something like this before but it broke after only one season. It was immensely useful so I'm in for one.

Amazon has a few. I've had these for years and most leak after a few months. I bought a donut float for it and no leaks. Had this one about 3 years. Batteries last about 6 - 9 months

Rain will drop the temp but several degrees and so will the overnight. It's nice to know if it's 82 or 88. Big difference
