Just to mention:

Yes this is shuckable. Inside is a 2242 sized NVMe drive. The drive inside is the SK Hynix BC711 which has an integrated DRAM cache on the package. The enclosure can be reused for other 2242 sized drives (or 2230 with an adapter) for if you want a reliable USB-C to NVMe adapter. The bridge chip is the ASM2362 for those wondering. The shucked drive can also fit into a slot for a larger form factor if you have the standoff or adapter for it.

The drive itself is faster than the spec of the X31 Beetle. The enclosure is bottlenecked by the USB speed, not the drive itself. My shucked BC711 from this enclosure blows the WD SN520 Blue that came with my laptop out of the water.

PS5 won't play PS5 games off an external drive I don't think. It will play PS4 games off an external though. If you want to use this as an external for your PS5 it should work.

And if you want to expand the internal storage of your PS5, you'll want a newer and faster drive since the PS5 uses NVMe Gen 4 (this is a Gen 3 drive).

No - I did exactly this with my X31 and the original LeGo.
Also, OP is underselling the left over m.2 adapter - outside of its case, it can also do 2280 in a pinch too.

No downside. I have an Ideapad Gaming 3 (which is a kneecapped Legion 5) and it's much faster than the WD drive it came with. There is a 2TB version of this (at just under double the price) that will work as well.

After p41, I am anti-hynix. These dikheads left 100s of thousands of ssd customers hanging on bad firmware for literal YEARS.

Awwww, it's so cute. But why is the 2TB version Dark Grey, and not the 1TB version?

LMAO, this is why you do research before buying new electronics. Being an early adopter never pays.

As I get older, computer hardware is getting more confusing. If I shuck this, can I install it in my Latitude 7420 (has 2280 drive currently)?
