I believe this does out perform it slightly. however if you are near a micro center I got my 5900xt for $210 last time it went on sale.

however, at Mc 5900xt is sitting at 250$ currently I believe. if that's the case and you need a cpu right now, this is the better deal

Do you NEED 16 cores? You can get a 5700x 8-core 65w CPU for $100 on AliExpress. I just got one yesterday for anew build.

I have the 5700X3D. I upgraded last year for really cheap deal. It's the same as the 5700x until you load up a game. But I'll be honest, in multi core work loads it mega lags, it's way behind what the 5950x can do. The 5700x Passmark score is about 26,000. The 5950x Passmark score is about 45,000. That's a pretty massive difference. Plus 16 cores vs 8 cores. Anyone getting this cpu isn't solely focused on getting a few extra frames in valorant or something. But in cpu intensive apps, that's a pretty sizeable chunk in performance that makes a big difference in rendering various things. So although my X3D variant blows the 5950x out of the water in gaming, the 5950x crushes it in multi Core Video renders etc.

You should have gotten the X3D variant. It's the same as the 5700X but the X3D cache does WONDERS in games.

If you live near Microcenter the real question is this vs the 5800xt at $139. I dont think the 59050xt is 100% better. I believe its actually closer to 25%-50% better depending on games(25%) vs editing and such (50%) where 16 cores is relevant.

This is a good deal if you have the board and cooler for it. I have one on a Asus ROG Strix X570E-Gaming WiFi board with a Phantom Spirit EVO using a single 120 x 28mm thick fan between the towers. It doesn't block the RAM at all and cools as good as the factory dual fans.

The 5950X will score about 46,000 on CPU Mark and I'm not a gamer. If you have the board this would get you by for quite a while until better generations come out and drop in price. If you have a 6 or 8 core 5000 series, you'll notice the difference in everything you do.

Yes, I know about the 7000 and 9000 series processors. I built a 7950X3D for a friend. But I'm waiting until I can really get my money's worth out of a complete upgrade, board, CPU and RAM.

That won't be a 7000 or 9000 series. I'll have to wait and see, but I'm looking for about a 110,00 to 130,000 CPU Mark score, a little over double or even triple what it scores now. 100K might do with new features that I can't add with a PCIe card, such as upgraded PCIe bus, encoding/decoding and who knows what they'll have by then.

My machine has 115 TB of storage and I use it for video/photo processing and 3D. It's the machine that we dreamed about in the 80's, a fast Unix computer. I'm running Tumbleweed.

Of course. Everyone's machine needs to score 500K. 😎
Seriously, my wife has a 5700X and it's great for her. Zero complaints.
Me, I'll take all of the raw horse power that I can afford (willing to spend).
