24L is way too small for a modern day school backpack

Novice... You gotta send the kids to school with the custom fitted plates for their backpacks, kevlar wont do the job

Your standard Jansport backpack is 25 liters, are kids carrying that much more stuff around now...because that was fine for me for all high school and college. I'd think most kids carry a laptop/chromebook and maybe a book or two these days?

You can fit at least 2-4 medium to large textbooks in this plus extra crap like notebooks and a binder. If you are making your kid carry more than that you must want the next generation to have jacked up backs like we do. Really though, my combat pack in the military was around 25l. It'll get the job done easily.

Lol at the inflated $90 list price. This backpack is $75 tops and is what Osprey sells it for directly.
I have this pack in black/coal grey which looks pretty slick. If you want the same design language (more casual than hiking) but with a slightly larger capacity, then I suggest the Osprey Flare 27 liter which is also on sale.

Not sure about this specific model, but I have an Osprey Quasar Daypack that's seven years old now. I use it daily going to and from work. The only thing that has any meaningful amount of wear are the the zipper pull ties, which are easily replaceable.
The Targus backpack it replaced lasted 7 months before a shoulder strap self-destructed.

Bought two of my kids Osprey backpacks for school last year (HS and College) as other bags barely make it through a year of getting thrown around in their cars, lockers, on the ground, etc. They don't carry many books anymore, so a bigger bag is not needed. But the Osprey bags still look brand new after a year of abuse.
