finally, this is how much these dongles should cost. I paid $80 for a simple Motorola Bluetooth dongle that gave me android auto in my last car several years ago. these are notoriously hit and miss for quality/disconnects, but at 9 dollars, certainly worth a shot. so cheap that hitting the return button will likely just give you your money back.

I got a $15 Car play adapter on Amazon and have been thrilled with it. I had constant no connect/disconnects with wired .But this listing is confusing as it says "works with Android" but doesn't list as being compatible with AA?
Great deal. Lowest I've seen for one. https://a.co/d/4qWArU8
Reviews say it works for Android Auto as well even though the listing is vague about it. Mixed reviews there but looks like the negative reviews are mostly apparently quality control issues so, if It works, it works and if not it's defective and just return it.
Also of note there's a bunch on sale listed at "Used Like New" for $18. That's probably closer the the real price and they're likely just selling new units as used to get the volume and hook a few suckers at $55.
there are equivalent units on aliexpress that function identically to this for under $10. they do android auto + carplay seamlessly. only concern might be security.
