1) Shop the VIP store [lenovo.com]
If needed, join Lenovo Rewards [lenovo.com] for free expedited shipping and $58 in rewards o this purchase
2) I suggest configuring with the 258V, 512GB, VRR OLED, and Haptic Touchpad
3) Add the 2-year premium warranty to kick in the $100 cart threshold bonus with code BUYMORELENOVO

Should come to $1929.50 before tax. Seems like a decent price on perhaps a great configuration of one of the best laptops out there. If 512GB storage is not enough, considering picking up 1TB Gen 5 SSD (or bigger) and cloning the existing Gen 4 drive as the Lenovo price for the upgrades kind of kills the deal. Best Buy has this one [bestbuy.com]for $99.

UPDATE: The price dropped about $20 so I updated the price.

Wow, I don't think I've seen anyone give you a $100 discount for upgrading to Linux from Windows.

At this price, just get a MacBook Pro. Even the processor is mid. You are paying a hefty premium for the build.

Given the MacBook Pro uses a completely different operating system, I don't really see these as interchangeable. As a lifelong Windows users of about 35 years, I tried to switch to the Mac OS about 15 years ago with a MacBook Air and just could not adjust.

Also, there are some people willing to pay a premium for what is arguably one of the best Windows Ultrabooks on the market. For those people, this may be a good deal.

I have a 7 year old Gen6 X1 Carbon that is still going strong, but I am looking to upgrade. I paid about $1500 at Costco in 2018. I wouldn't mind paying this for the current gen. Good deal OP.

Any idea if the SSD is upgradeable? I have 4TB that I bought to upgrade my current Gen6.

Actually, you can choose an IPS display* and upgrade to 3-year premier warranty and that configuration is $1915.25. You don't need to add the o-premier warranty either. If you drop down to the 1-year premier warranty, that configuration is $1770.51. I don't care for glossy OLED either, but the X1 seems to have a unique coating that make it anti-glare (matte-like perhaps).

*14" WUXGA (1920 x 1200), IPS, Anti-Glare, Touch, 100%sRGB, 500 nits, 60Hz, Low Power

It was different 15 years ago with that hardware/OS. If you switch from Windows to macs with current hardware—Mac Book Air or Mac Book Pro—likely you are not going back. I am also a long time Windows user, more than 30 years, but when I switched to the MacBook Pro M1 a few years ago from Windows i9, 64GB system, I felt day and night different. The Mac is more fluid from browsing to over all day to day experience. Now, I am taking to laptop / desktops only. Still keeping Android as the iPhone is not convinced me yet. I recently upgraded my home PC to Mac Mini M4 and my laptop to a 14" M4 pro with 24 GB, and I feel this will last for another 10 years without a single hiccup. Even though my previous Windows system was so powerful on paper, over a period of time, I could see it's getting slower and slower. My 4 year old mac has at least 50-60 open windows in Google chrome at any day, and I never felt it's slow at all.

my opinion is the 258V, 512GB drive, haptic touchpad, and the VRR 500 nit (SDR) OLED is the best. Lenovos price to upgrade the drives are ridiculous. If the drive is too small, you can pick up a 1 TB gen 5 drive for about $99 and a USB housing for like $17 and clone the drive .
