Everything electronics keeps dropping in price (Laptops, PC parts, phones, tablets, etc) but it's really unfortunate that the Adamantium Core that's needed to build gaming consoles are so darn rare and expensive.

I'd sell the PS5 if it weren't for all the PS4 games I own.

According to Sony, the increase isn't because of tariffs because they moved US console production out of China to avoid the tariffs. It's clear they see Nintendo and Microsoft (well, mostly Nintendo) is making money from higher priced consoles, so now Sony wants some of it.
Where did they move manufacturing to? It's also possible that it simply costs more to make them if they're being manufactured outside of China, but inside of a jurisdiction with advanced manufacturing capability.

There is no way Microsoft is selling many consoles at those new prices. Xbox is a dead system.

It was nice to get all the Xbox and PS5 deals from the past few years. No way I would even consider a 5 year old console at these new prices. Even the Switch 2 was a skip at the hardware and accessory prices they are charging.

Remember when consoles dropped in price over their lifetimes, until replacement by a new model?

Do you have a source for Sony saying this?

Even with the new tariffs, a console should decrease in price over its lifecycle. This is just greed driven by both Xbox and PlayStation. We are in wild times.

So it's not because of the tariffs but because they want to pass on the cost if their move *because* of them trying to reduce their tariffs. Any way you slice this, it's tariff related.
