There was another deal for a slightly worse model last week with only 16g of RAM for $400 instead of the 32g listed here, which is basically the same thing except this listing has an extra stick of RAM. I thought this laptop had most everything I wanted - fast processor, large capacity RAM and storage, and most importantly for me - USB C charging and upgradability. I was also considering a touch screen, but that's more a "nice to have" feature for me. One of the "dealbreakers" for me was WiFi5, but I thought it wasn't a big deal because I can just buy a Wifi 7 card and upgrade it. Welp, I got the laptop yesterday and I opened it up earlier today. RAM (2 slots) and storage are upgradeable, but the network card is soldered onto the motherboard. Wth? I've never seen one soldered like this before. It's a Realtek 8822ce, and when I googled it, it sounds like this chip has known issues where it'll just disconnect and not see any wifi networks. I guess I can buy a USB wifi 7 adapter if I really need it...but now I'm really considering returning it and either buying this listing for the extra RAM. Or just be patient until I find another deal with a less $hitty wifi chip.

Other than those issues, this laptop seems quite capable. I'm not too picky, but the backlit keyboard is decent, and it comes with a number pad. Yes, the construction is plastic, but it's sturdy enough. I'm not purposely trying to bend it like reviewers on Youtube do. Speakers have a wide soundstage but lack bass, which is typical for most laptops. At the end of the day, if you're just looking for a decent laptop to do everyday things, this is a very good value and can serve you for probably the next 5-7 years (or longer if you're stingy like me).

The chassis is very flimsy that it will bend. Never seen a device like that before. USB occasionally freeze for several seconds. Nothing else. Worth it if you buy for cheap.

REPPED! Couldn't be more happy with the laptop. Able to install W 11 with only a local account. No bloatware (literally nothing). Included all necessary drivers, such as AMD graphics app. GPU drivers needed update, but was 1 click - no searching around on Internet.
Not going to get into the CPU-centric performance: it is a powerhouse. It is known.
Regarding the iGPU: very impressive, and options to increase performance from stock. Windows power plan has a setting to allow higher performance when plugged in. AMD software allows you to "allocate" up to 4GB as "VRAM.". This isn't actually necessary... the system will allocate system ram as VRAM as a game requires it (and beyond 4GB), but some games will refuse to run if they do not see X amount of VRAM, and there seem to be some other minor positives re: 1% lows etc when doing this.
I didn't check the bios to see if you can "allocate 8GB" as some people do -- because it is not beneficial.
Furthermore, the AMD software has advanced alot since this iGPU came out. There are now options to increase performance and/or battery life via driver-level upscaling (is the game doesn't need to support it natively); dynamic resolution (software will drop Rez when necessary to keep frame rate), and this tech that claims to reduce frame rate based on what you are doing in-game... thereby saving power. This could be great for a top-down 4X game, when you aren't moving the map.
All told this system can run games about as fast as a 1050ti - 1650. It meets the recommend requirements for just about every game from mid/late 2010's; it will run new games at reduced settings.
What else do you want for $425??
Also, regarding it's wireless card: I have had 0 problems. I can stream Cyberpunk with path tracing from another PC, to this machine, wirelessly, without any problem. No problems using speed test or stability tests (ping).
A really good deal 👍

Wifi 5 isn't good enough? 3.5Gb/s. This is a bargain laptop. Idk if this thing could handle full 6 or 7 throughput... and I certainly don't have any data to move at that speed. 5 is good to go for high quality PLEX streams!
I'm not trying to tell you what you need, but for anyone else considering - wifi 5 is faster than what you can get from your ISP; there are benefits to 6/7 over 5, but 5 is still really good!
Did you miss the issues they claim exist with that particular wi-fi card? Replacing it is off the table. The 5.0 version of wi-fi is not the worst issue. I agree that would not stop me. It was just the reason they wanted to swap out the card. Then they discovered the card soldered in is a poor choice, as well.

If you open it up can you return it? I opened the box and played around with it for a few hours. Would they charge a restocking fee?
May I know the reason you wanted to return?
I'm thinking of getting it but afraid about the build quality.

You guys are off kilter, This thing is basically an entire 5900x build for $400.

BUY BUY BUY..

Forget support. You won't get any. But the value proposition is there.

The iGPU is only 10% or so slower than a 1050ti mobile.

The screen is probably trash, but who knows. I'd roll them dice.

Im looking for laptop for Son in 7th grade in Robotics Competition team in school, teacher said specs to look for were intel 7 and 169 gb ram and a decent GPU. I think this checks off those boxes. For robotics coding Its perfect, just wondering for CAD Drawing for Robot building in the next year or so. Also, to note the rose gold increased in price. Was thinking of getting one for my daughter.
This does not have a dedicated gpu, just so you know.

On slickdeals, the best and cheapest option in the last week or so is probably this one,
https://www.bjs.com/product/acer-...004955297/

Sad new is that this should be a 500 dollar computer, not a 650 dollar computer, but tariffs you know. Everything is up 25% or so in costs compared to last year.

Mine came with one stick of 16gb. It was an A-Data DDR5 4800mhz stick. So if yours is like mine, you'll just need to find another comparable stick. I tried looking around for a 16gb stick, but they were all more expensive than $25.

Ordered, I will do a full review in this thread when I receive it.

It seems some online information I can find, it's a lower TDP lock on the cpu perhaps than other 6800h models. You get maybe 75% of the 6800h maxed TDP performance.

We'll see.

My main worry based on reviews is if the Wificard is too trash (not upgradable), and if the screen has <100% srgb @ 6-bit, it might look pretty awful.

If anyone finds a plastic hard shell protective cover that fits this model and/or the keyboard silicone cover please let me know. I reached out to Nimo and they do not offer this for sale, they just say look for generic 15-16 inch laptop cases or sleeves

How does this compare to the Dory model? Only difference I can see is the blue color tone.

Sorry, I'm not trying to be a dick. But comments like these mystify me.
