2010 called! They want their laptop specs back! 🤣
This is ewaste from a company that clearly hates the environment -- otherwise they'd make it possible to upgrade their machines, so that a very competent CPU can continue to be used when a user's needs for ram/storage change.
Have you tried one?
I'm the furthest from an Apple fanboy that you can get….
but they seem to be universally praised for their capabilities and the Air line seems to be gradually even getting better. Reviewers all give unanimously high praise.
If you love putting 64 GB of RAM in everything, it's not for you.
My machine is a M1 Air with 16gb ram and 1tb ssd. I frequently hit the swap memory like it owes me money, and that's just with literally email + chat client + web browser + OneNote open -- around 65-75% of the memory in use at any point. My 1tb of storage is fine, but last I checked, the base OS + my essential applications took around 80gb. That's literally everything in a meager 128gb model, no room to do actual work.
They get high praise because of the lower price of the entry level options, as the machines themselves have a fairly capable CPU and relatively good build quality. It's one of the best 13" ultraportables period -- let alone at this price point. Shame it's intentionally crippled with non-upgradeable design.
If you love actually being able to do work on your machine instead of looking at a pretty screen, it's not you for.
There fixed that.
