In 2017, Hisense, a Chinese electronics manufacturer, purchased the Toshiba television business, including its production facilities and brand operations. That might be better because I bought a 49" in 2016 for $200 on Black Friday. Picture and sound were much better than expected but with regular use, the set lasted just 18 months. I purchased an extended warranty and expected to have the set repaired They chose to simply pay me back my $200. While such sounds fair, there were no similar sets on sale and I argued they could at least give me a comparable deal on a similar replacement set. I ended up adding money to replace it since I couldn't wait for another sale. Haven't been to Best Buy since out of spite although I realize it's the same everywhere. Current set is the Sansui OLED that was bought last December. Hoping for the best because it took represented a steal at the time. Always wanted an LG OLED and with the mortgage, etc. this was the only way.
