Some youtube videos out there have shown that the 3/8 with the 5aH high output battery is more powerful, but they don't know why. The 1/2 would be better if you're doing work that needs bigger sockets. I'm 99% of the time only doing DIY maintenance work around the house and the car, plus there was a 3/8 impact set on sale at the time so I went with that. Did my brakes and driveshaft just fine.

Okay, so Milwaukee engineers can design a sub compact stubby that has over 550 lbs of break away torque, yet your argument is that they couldn't possibly figure out how to add a button selector switch to the outside of the tool vs integrating it into the trigger. You're saying I'm not a tech person, yet do you realize how ridiculous your argument sounds?
