CIT Bank Platinum Savings: Try to move out money and receive APY boost offer

Hello
On a laptop via web browser, I tried to initiate outbound wire transfer from CIT bank for an entire balance whole amount and instantly got pop-up screen with offer to boost APY by 0.480% for 12 months.
Try to initiate wire transfer for an entire balance whole amount and see if you can get the same offer.
Good luck.

I tried moving half of what I had & it triggered the offer. I've had CIT for about 8 years & have been happy. This bonus makes their rate extremely competitive. Thank you.

Amazing! I just tried transferring my entire balance out to an external bank account via ACH (using the App) and received the same offer! Extra 0.48% for 12 months. Thank you OP!!

Edit with more info: The offer was prompted after setting up the transfer but BEFORE confirming it, so you can easily test it on your account without actually moving any money.

Worked! Experimented a little. For me, it had to be an immediate transfer and more than half my balance. To Chase bank if that matters. Thank OP!!!!!

Do you click the transfer button? I tried going to my platinum savings account and clicked on transfers but no popup.

Yes. You need to choose a bank, set an amount, and click transfer. That's what I did and that's what prompted the offer.

Earn more with an updated rate

The current interest rate on your Platinum Savings account is 3.922%, with an APY of 4.00%.2

We will increase your interest rate by 0.480% for the next 12 months.1

That means your current new interest rate will be 4.402% and your APY will be 4.50% when your account balance remains $5,000.00 or greater. The current new interest rate will be 0.730 and the APY will be 0.73% when your account balance falls below $5,000.00.2

If the standard, published interest rate on the account changes, your interest rate will move with it, remaining 0.480% higher than the published interest rate tiers for the next 12 months.

1This interest rate increase and 12-month period will replace any previous interest rate increase that may be in place on your account. It will not be added to any previous offers that you may have accepted.

2Platinum Savings is a tiered interest-rate account. Interest is paid on the entire account balance based on the interest rate and APY in effect that day for the balance tier associated with the end-of -day account balance. The Current APY's (Annual Percentage Yields) shown above are the standard, published APYs for each tier (exclusive of any interest rate increase) as of 08/06/2025. Interest rates for the Platinum Savings account are variable and may change at any time without notice.

Great find - worked for me. Enter an amount for immediate transfer. Click transfer and it should bring up a confirmation popup normally. The offer appeared instead of the confirmation popup.

So if you have $10,000 at 4% for a year, that's roughly $400 in interest earned. At 4.5% that's roughly $450 earned or am I doing this wrong?

Nope thats right. Or, $1 would earn you 4.5 cents. Or $1 Billion would earn you a meager $45 Million
