You have to purchase in iTunes to get the upgrade.

Man, you two nailed it! Thanks for the update on the 4K release and for the insight into how iTunes upgrades work. I suspect it will list for $5k within a year if not sooner in the 4K mode. I'm seeing that happen with several movies on Fandango at Home once they get a 4K upgrade.

Guess I'll contact support and see if they can reverse it
edit: that took way too long (40min) to get back $5
