Some crazy prices for sure on a premium OLED gaming laptop. But last time I tried an open box "excellent" it left a really bad taste in my mouth.

My unit's dGPU was cleary toast because everytime I tried enabling it, screen would go entirely back and the laptop would fail to boot properly afterwards until I gave it a hard reset. This is with all drivers updated to latest, even trying all suggestions I read online.

I can honestly see why BB might have missed it, because if you stayed entirely within windows doing lightweight tasks, you would never even notice since the dGPU doesnt even kick in. So they probably just saw, ok boots into windows, chrome + notepad launches. PASS.

just a brief word of caution: I do a lot of open box Best Buy shopping and at least in Silicon Valley, I've noticed return fraud is somewhat common. Maybe 1 in 4 times I have seen someone pass off a lower spec device or swap out the built in SSD. Other times I open it up and see signs of damage from a failed attempt to repaste or do a mod.

Open Box deals are excellent but make sure you test and inspect thoroughly -- for a gaming laptop you should definitely at least check that the hardware specs match what you bought, and run some gaming benchmarks to make sure there wasn't a BIOS/vBIOS hack to relabel, etc

On the bright side Best Buy is very liberal with accepting returns for these, so as long as you feel confident in identifying fraud, you can save a lot of money.

Yes it's regional depending on the open box availablility.

I noticed that the Clearance prices dropped between Thursday and friday norning. A lot of the open box prices and stock I was monitoring disappeared quickly around me by Friday morning.

I've returned a few laptops to best buy and they don't even open the box to see if a computer is even in there.

I would probably only buy good condition and higher. Fair probably has dents or missing parts. $843 a good price? I know the ram is soldered.

I have been burned so many times by BB "Fair" condition. I don't really buy those anymore unless it's really close to home and I have time so I can really test it out. These are often store demo models. OLED may have burn ins due to that too. I had one in my cart before this was posted and really thought about it but decided against it in the end.

Another app is giving 5% cb on asus gaming laptops + I can tap into chime 10% cb up to $100. This would bring the 913 after tax down to $776. Might be worth it in my situation.

For in-store pickup this doesn't seem to work. I used the same CB site for Best Buy and it didn't register my purchase.
