Weird that the $5 'prime discount' isn't mentioned at all until you get to the last stage of checking out! It'll be interesting to see if these units have the 'unwanted side-effect' of stripping HDCP...

What is that side effect?

I also am curious why anyone would need to duplicate the exact same screen.

Hosting sports games maybe? I have a mirror to multiple screens so YouTube TV and such doesn't think I'm using tons of screens. save bandwidth while playing a game on 5+ TVs.

I mirror my display when I'm presenting on a large screen but need to be doing something to the screen- live code demo, white boarding, things like that. I'll also mirror video games when I'm playing but my kids want to watch from 6" in front of it... I wouldn't buy dedicated hardware for it...

I have a Roku at my desk in the living room, and use an A/B switch to switch the output to a TV at my desk or the living room TV. Could use this instead. For desktop PCs, if you don't have a discrete [separate] graphics card, i.e., use the CPU's GPU, you might be limited to one HDMI out. A splitter like this would allow you to use 2 displays, or one display and a drawing tablet with display.

I use a different one in my living room. I need the HDMI output from my receiver to go to my TV and Projector. When I'm watching movies, I pull down the projector screen and for other stuff, I watch on my TV. This helps by me not having to use a switcher.

We used something like this to show customers designs at a desk. We had laptops output to a monitor. But this would let us use a desktop to do the same thing.

I am going to buy one of these to mirror a roku stick for the garage. This way if I have people over to watch a game we can have a screen on either side of the space without using 2x the bandwidth.

I feel like someone is always asking about these when splitters are posted. There you go.

There's a million uses for these. Use you imagination. Do I need one in my life? Nope.

Apparently it is video only, no audio.

Where does it mention that because I do not see that anywhere in the description on the page.
