I'd take this over a refurb. Solid brand.

Looking at the pictures and reading the description, this unit is only 120v. There does not seem to be a 50 amp outlet (even though it states it has a 50A outlet in the description) nor does it support 240 volts. The outlets are all 120@20 or 30 A. Maybe not a deal breaker for some but this limits usage. If that fits your needs, then this seems like a good deal.

It's an inverter unit. I have only seen one or two capable of 240v. In general almost all that are clean power inverter units are limited to 120v. If you need 240V then look at all the non inverter louder ones or you'll be looking at a much higher cost. One of them being the Honda 7000is at $4500. Be very careful reading description. Twist lock "outlets" can be dual purpose 120/240 depending what they are installed in. Yet "output" is another thing where the other is a descriptor of the type of outlet installed.

Description says 50amp, product photos show no 50amp. Also, no electric start. Pass.

Yes as I explained above you have to be careful reading. It has a 14-50R. Which is terminology to describe a 50A straight blade outlet. Doesn't mean that's what it outputs. Just what kind of plug it will accept. Many bigger RVs use a 14-50P plug but only use it for single phase 120v circuits. Not having an electric starter I get it but it's also saving about 40 pounds by not having a starter a battery and all the insulation that makes equivalent ones 100 pounds. Meant to be portable so it makes sense to keep it light over adding those things in this case.

Brother, my only point was to point out that it states it has a 50A outlet. If it did, it would support 240v. This will not work with a transfer switch or an interlock. If running at 120 works for you then it is a good deal.

I had the Predator 3500 and it was a real nice machine. I don't know about the 2000 which is probably the one you meant. A littler light but near the same weight as this but half the power output. Probably quieter since it is enclosed and half the output. I haven't seen the db rating for the Genmax on the Sam's pages. For the $100 I would grab this being about the same weight with double the power output and dual fuel capability unless you need to have something quiet. This is probably in between the enclosed units and total open frame for noise level. Maybe their website shows the decibels. Only bad thing about HF is the warranty is 90 days. Buying their extended warranty is at least 25% of the cost plus it's a one time use. Meaning if you make a warranty claim they'll replace it but then you have to buy another warranty. Hearing that I canceled it and had no issues while I owned it.

All good. It is misleading for those that don't know or pay much attention, so good to bring it up as you'll only have one phase on your transfer switch. Only half the circuits would get 120v power. I have done that with a Honda 2000. I think this is really meant more for the camping crowd versus home backup use.
