If you're going to buy this, remember that you should be able to stack deals by utilizing a discounted REI gift card to buy this item.
According to this slickdeals post, you can buy the Weekend Vibes $50 gift card at Target and receive a free $5 Target gift card.

But on another note, I am curious what others think about this pack. Is this Osprey 8L (w/ 2.5L reservoir) pack much better than 100oz-reservoir CamelBak 12L packs (that has been posted in previous slickdeal posts for relatively the same price). If yes, why? TIA.

I can't speak to the specifics of the two packs, but it's generally recognized that the Osprey lifetime warranty is stronger than CamelBak's.

I have an Osprey Siskin 12, so not the exact pack but very similar.

The Osprey bladder (made by Hydrapak) is much better than the Camelbak bladder. Easier to fill, and there's no way to cross-thread the closure. I think I like the Hydrapak bite valve a bit better, but that's personal preference.

I frequently use the helmet strap on the back of the bag. I mountain bike up very steep trails and fire roads. (Average speed is usually 5mph.) Putting the helmet on my back is much, much cooler than wearing it, and since I'm going so slow, I'm not concerned about falling over

If 8L is large enough, then this would be a great pack. If not, keep your eye out for the 12L variants. I got mine for ~$60 brand new.

Personally I would hold out for the 12. Unless you know you are just going to use the bladder, that slight bit of extra room makes all the difference in the world while still being small. I've loaded my 12 to the brim more times than I can count and I was glad to have the space.

I guess it depends on how long you're looking to go out riding/hiking. I like to go with 3L bladders just to get a bit more water, however, a filter could work too.Have had my Camelbak for ~8 years and definitely like it.

Why would this be worth $50 let alone $130? Is it well insulated or something?
