Nothing wrong with Seagate, as long as it's not their consumer drives.
The Skyhawk line, however, focuses more on continuous writes rather than reads. You probably won't notice if you're just using them to download content, but they wouldn't be as good for hosting a database, for instance.
At this price, there's no reason not to put them on RAID.

If you just need an everyday storage drive this will be fine. The only downside is that the drive is a surveillance drive. So it is rated to always be writing. It's speed and longevity are all based on writing constantly vs read write of say an enterprise/server drive.
That being said I don't think anyone would really notice the difference.
In terms of brand- I have several seagate that have given me no trouble and I have wd that give me no problems. I've also experienced issues with both.
So you know about the $75 deal from last year and still have to ask why these are 0 hours? That's literally the first
question that gets asked for these listings every single year.

Personally, I'm very firmly in the never ever seagate camp.
I'm willing to believe that their enterprise drives are more or less okay; but they historically have been shady-af in their handling of flawed drives. I don't hate my data or my time enough to save a few dollars purchasing a seagate drive.

Why no warranty? Was it because you damaged the external drive while shucking? Could have use the external drive as an external drive and shuck it after warranty period.
