I installed it myself in my 2015 Nissan Juke in March. Got it set up to my liking after a little trial and error having never attempted an install like this before. The extra screen real estate is lovely and I was able to retain my factory all-around cameras and reverse.

@rubbercheckbook
Yes if you get a steering wheel control module compatible for your vehicle (Metra, Axxess, idatalink Maestro) you can retain steering wheel controls and add quite a few additional features.

@TwiceOver
It does support wireless Android Auto and will resume as soon as your device reconnects to the unit. I have a Samsung S25+ and it works fantastic for me. Startup is inside of 20s after starting the vehicle.
In my journey I discovered Kenwood is one of the 2 brands that does not auto-initiate AA or Carplay and requires a button start. It's a well discussed feature request that Kenwood has shown no signs of changing with software updates. You're safe with Pioneer, Sony, and JVC which all have auto-initiate AA.
(I went through a JVC KV850BT, Kenwood DMX907S, and Pioneer DMH C5500 before landing on the WT3800NEX)

@tarzan
This is a single DIN unit, but can fit in any vehicle with a single DIN or double DIN slot (with a trim kit specific for your vehicle).

I HIGHLY recommend visiting Crutchfield.com, select this head unit, select your vehicle. They will give you options for a shopping list of all the parts you need to fit this unit in YOUR SPECIFIC vehicle along with what features you gain/lose with those parts.

Typically this will consist of a:
- main wiring harness for your vehicle for the brand of headunit,
- steering wheel control (SWC),
- antenna adapter (for AM/FM)
- satellite adapter (if you have a tuner)
- navigation adapter (if you have existing navigation/GPS)
- trim kit to fit the unit to your vehicle's dash
You'll also need a pry tool so you don't make a mess of your dash.
If you opt to use the wiring harness provided with the unit, you'll need to do some soldering.

The parts will run anywhere from $300-500 if you shop around. Crutchfield's shopping list provides guidance on general pricing for the additional parts.
If you take it into a shop, you could be charged $800-1200+ for install labor and parts.

I thought I was crazy. I thought I was the only one who demanded an actual volume knob. I find it so incredibly irritating that I can't find a decent head unit with a volume knob.

I have this unit in my STi and love it. The lack of a volume knob would bother me but I mainly use the steering wheel controls. All steering wheel buttons work, factory backup camera connects to it just fine, and factory ECU information (oil temp, tire psi, boost, fuel economy, etc.) shows on screen as well. You just need the correct brain/harness for your car model to have all the features integrate with the head unit (mine are from Maestro).

Not a bad head unit, but the lack of a volume control knob might be a deal killer for some people. I use an inline "volume knob" from my RCA into my DSP.

Curious if steering wheel control knobs would work with this unit.

Metra Axxess™ compatible

The Metra Axxess™ AXPIO is a fully integrated dash kit package designed specifically for select Pioneer receivers. This complete solution features an AXPIO Series interface, vehicle-specific harnessing, a dash kit, and more. Vehicle information and settings controlled on the factory screen are retained, displayed, and controlled on the Pioneer® touchscreen. These settings would otherwise be lost after replacing the head unit. The built-in integration technology from Axxess also retains safety chimes through an offboard speaker, retains audio controls on the steering wheel, retains R.A.P. (Retained Accessory Power), and provides accessory power (12-volt, 10-amp) and NAV output for parking brake, reverse, and speed sense (sold separately).

You have to buy an adapter.

You can also go to your local bestbuy store that has an install bay and pay them to install it. You can ask for the install bay manager to do the install if you are worried.
They usually have a flat fee for the install. I was SHOCKED at how reasonable the install prices were. No other place was even close to the install prices.
You can bring your radio, ask them what else do you need such as a trim piece and steering wheel harness.
I have done two car stereos... One was for a 2012... amp, speakers, sub, deck, back up camera, etc... the other was for a 2018 and we kept the deck but replaced the speakers and installed amps with sub. All amps and speakers and sub was purchased through facebookmarketplace.
Even if you don't change your speakers, your sound quality will most likely improve dramatically from stock.

does your C-Class have a Harmon Kardon or Bose sound system? If so you are out of luck. from what I understand (and have been told by Best Buy) is that audio wiring in your Mercedes is using fiber optic cables. They would have to run new wires from the DIN to all of your speakers (can't use the existing fiber ones) and I think that means replacing the speakers as well. It's a lot of work and the labor cost is much more expensive. I thought about doing it myself with this same deck for my dad's CLK but I didn't want to risk damaging the interior.
Love this deck on my Highlander, but paid $700 a year ago with free BB install.
I'd give your local Best Buy a call and they should be able to tell you. Crutchfield.com would likely tell you as well.

I added this in my kid's car and it is fine. I paid $201 at best buy though (open box) but it seemed new, so oh well. You can use whatever camera you can find on amazon for cheap for front and/or rear camera. You just add the front view to the favorites menu. Rear view comes on in reverse or as a toggle in favorites.

It is android and apple car play wireless or wired. It is a bit slower than the higher end pioneers, but who cares at this price. Bestbuy charged $49 to install, and will all the harness stuff and connections, it was $388 out the door with discounts and installed.

Just put one in my C6 Corvette, got an open box excellent from BestBuy for $230 and added the geek squad 4 year warranty for another $40? Love it so far, installed it with a front and rear camera which makes parking as close as possible to the wall in my garage for space super easy!

Lack of volume knob/physical button does suck but it's not terrible. The UI is slow, but it's totally acceptable for a car head unit. I saw a lot of reviews complaining it was way too laggy, but it's comparable to most new car touchscreens. Android Auto wireless works great, I do have to click on the android auto then click my phone to connect sometimes but that's fast and easy.

The install is a bit of a pain, you install the deck/main part, then put your dash back together, then plug in and screw on the screen from the sides (would be nice if it just clicked into place). It took me a lot of on and off to get it as close to flush as I could while fitting a skinny screw driver between the screen and my dash. The mounting bracket should be shorter as I had to trim my double din opening faceplate to get it to fit slightly recessed into the dash. The deck part is also super long considering it doesn't have a CD/DVD player, it's as long as a normal CD/DVD deck, which becomes an issue when you are trying to wedge the deck part back as far as possible to get the screen flush.

Overall, at this price range SUPER happy. At the $700 MSRP I wouldn't be happy with it.

Requires an additional $300 in parts according to Crutchfield to make this receiver fit a 2019 Toyota Highlander.
