Expect issues with flush tank as these slowly corrode or damage components. Learnt the hard way with a water leak

IMO these have a VERY strong bleach scent - it was enough in my small studio apartment that I put them in the free section of the laundry room for anyone else to take.

Heed the warnings. I dismissed them and bought these as budget replacement tabs for my 'Kaboom' toilet cleaners. I popped two into every Kaboom as I would do with the regular Kaboom tabs and walking into the bathroom after flushing the toilet will knock you off your feet. I feel like I'm getting high every time I piss. It really is that strong. I did one tab on my upstairs toilet to see if it would be better and it seems like it's a bit less strong but I don't think I'll be using these again.

Just have the bathroom door closed when not in use. It keeps the toilet squeaky clean with zero effort and it's totally worth it

Are these better than doing the brush and liquid cleaner method ?

I don't have experience with this, but if the bleach smell is strong enough that you need to close the door, then I'd imagine you'd pass out while taking a dump if you leave the door closed at all times

I just buy a bulk bottle of brominating tablets (used for pools) but can be used for toilets.

Maybe flappers and other internals are made from varying materials, but these absolutely destroyed all the rubber parts inside the toilet. After a couple months, the standard issue Lowe's red flapper was melted and contorted enough that I had to replace. I am really confused by this and similar products.

I use one tablet in my Fluidmaster 8300. It does leave a chlorine smell, but it's not that strong in my opinion. I did put two one time and that was a bit much though.

Agreed with the other posters, do not put these directly into your tank unless you want problems down the line. You can get the Fluidmaster setup for around 10 bucks. I put them in all of my toilets, it does a good job keeping them cleaner overall. It does a great job for the toilet in the basement preventing mold, since it doesn't get flushed very often.

I've got the kaboom setup in my two and noticed over several years the container does seem to get brittle and eventually leak which if you are not paying attention can cause you to end up with expensive plumber bills. I'm just reading up on the fluidmaster now. Are you able to open the cartridges it uses? How did you add the tablets?

I know this is posted all the time in every one of these tabs threads. For those who know, bear with me, for those that dont (and there are plenty each time this is posted):

Lookup "Kaboom toiler bowl" and buy the kit that you attach inside your toilet tank and its inserted between the water lines only so the tablets dissolve in the unit and go only in your bowl and not your tank. These tabs that OP posted work perfectly for replacement tabs IN THE KABOOM.

But like you said, its not wise to place these tabs directly in the tank due to corrosion.

I use these tabs OP posted routinely in my Kaboom and all is well.
