Welding gloves also work great and might be cheaper.

This applies to kitchen mitts as well. Great way to get a bad burn.

You are just paying for the Weber name here, these are no different than generic $10 grill glvoes all over Amazon.

Their comment is about the typo on Amazon, damn instead of damp.

Have been using welding gloves as oven / grille mitts for years. Offer great protection not only for hands but wrists and arms as well (great if you've ever "bumped" your arm on the edge of the oven).

And they're less expensive, with a decent pair costing under $20 (see Amazon).

Ah! I didn't notice! LOL thanks for pointing that out. Ok, now it's funny
I was about to back that person up and give a personal experience of how when these get left out in the rain they are useless and will burn you.
The only possible win with these Weber's over the random offbrand Amazon ones is that there's a 2 year warranty. So if you use them a lot you might be able to get a couple free sets. But then that involves jumping through whatever warranty hoops they set up

"Gloves have been tested to reach up to 482 degrees Fahrenheit". For grilling? I know the alphabet soup generic ones on Amazon are probably bs at being 1400+ degree proof, but Weber needs to get those numbers up for grill gloves.

My typical "post first, read later" approach certainly has it limits sometimes 🙃

Yep, agreed, that's what I use as well (and yeah, even a cheap Harbor Freight pair works). Worth noting though that they almost work too well (as in, you can barely feel any heat) which can be dangerous if they do fail.
