You may be right. The one I have is the SE model with no paint. I also remember that being an issue with some coolers, but I can't remember which. Thermaltake knows what they are doing, and I'm sure you do too. Definitely worth the $10, even if it's an older design. It still works.

This conversation has me curious. I just did a 7700x build and my PA120SE seems to be performing poorly based on your comments. I monitored between 75-85C while CPU was on medium load for 10 min syncing files from my NAS. Haven't run benchmark tests or anything yet.

Very likely a me fault for possible reasons you mentioned. My front fan is 1" offset for RAM clearance.

What do you recommend for 1) benchmarking the cpu/cooler to test thermals and 2) diagnosing/fixing? I used the stock thermal paste that came w the cooler
