I think it may be for travelers who usually put the AirTag into their luggage and also want a scale to use during travel.
It may be useful if you are coming back from travel with gifts, etc and you want to make sure that you don't go over the weight limitations and you can track your luggage throughout your travels.

I can finally chime in as I bought this for my Vietnam and Japan travel of 2 weeks. I flew a total of 7 times (domestically in Vietnam too) and this was a game changer. Instead of my usual Airtags, I just throw it into one of luggage after I'm done. For accuracy, it's pretty accurate and easy to use (lb or kg switch). Pairing with Find My was also super easy. After shopping and moving between multiple airports, this helped me to be under the weight restrictions for Vietnam Airlines and Singapore Airlines.

There is 8.99 shipping unless you pay 5.99 a month for membership. I bet this is one of those companies that will keep charging you no matter how many times you call. Should use one time credit cards with them. You can get a apple original tracker and some cheap scale for maybe a $1-$2 more. Could be even cheaper on sale.
Hello, I posted directions in the OP at time of posting. You need to use the free shipping code.

Do people often take the scale with them? I think I usually would leave it at home. Not sure why the tracking built into the scale is a good thing

This is such a great idea. Some luggages already have a built-in scale. With this, they will also have Air Tag.

Yes, I take a scale with me. Need to also weigh for the trip back home especially if you bought things to bring back, especially bottle(s) of booze.

Currently on vacation and with delta our limit is 70 lbs. but with Southwest Airlines it's 50 lbs for checked bag and have had to shift some weight around the bags at the bag check in. So a scale would be useful. Built in air tag is a bonus.

On vacations it makes sense, because I'm often buying souvenirs, gifts, and such. Bags going back are always more stuffed than they were flying out.

Obviously, would be kind of pointless for regular business travel.

In for one. Half the price of an AirTag? That's pretty cool. Of course it won't have proximity find but that's not needed for a suitcase. Plus, airlines are starting to support Find My for locating lost luggage

If you travel and fly budget international airlines, some really nickel and dime you on the weight of nearly everything (personal item and carryon) and the fees can add up pretty quickly.
