worked at a cable assembly factory for a month. they made custom cables so it was every type. seeing this post gave me ptsd from it. shit was so easy but they had zero training.

Save yourself the time and aggravation - if you're doing more than a handful, grab the Klein crimper. It's much more expensive, but I've tried several of the cheaper Amazon options and they're all awful. They don't cut the cables that pass through and often lead to crossed wires.

As an installer, I've used several of these pass through crimpers, the Ideal and Klein ones are the best, with the Klein ratcheting crimper, which runs about 50 dollars, being a clear number one. Cheap Amazon Chinese ones are ok for a bit, but don't last long, at least in my experience, and have necessitated me having to go back and redo ends since they weren't seating the little copper bits all the way.

I have had nearly every pass thru crimper you can imagine. Cheap and every expensive one you can imagine. The Klein Tools VDV226-005 and Zoerax Pass through connector, bought in bulk, are my daily drivers.
