No. A tiller just tuns over the dirt in the ground. This would be for a small garden or raised bed and you'd probably have to loosen up the ground first with a shovel.

This is a 1-2 use item... ecosystems are irrelevant.

Their idea is that you could till the edge of your garden where grass or weeds are creeping in during the year, to effectively de-root them and maintain the garden edge. You also risk tearing up the roots of whatever youre growing though so im not sure thats really the 200iq idea their marketing team thinks it is.

A real practical use for this would be to take an existing garden and turn in compost at the beginning of the season. Like others pointed out this will not take hard dirt and make a garden out of it, you need a real gas-powered tiller for that.

What is main benefit of turning over soil in garden? Makes it easier for roots to spread?

That and it makes it easier to insert plants in the ground with your hands

Depending on how packed your soil is, yes--if this thing is weak it'll be hard if your soil is hard clay etc. Till everything up, rake flat with a hard rake, throw grass seed down, rake again with soft rake to get the seed interspersed in the top inch of soil, then throw some more grass seed down for good measure. A thin layer of straw helps keep it moist, or else just make sure it gets watered twice a day for the first ten days or so then once a day once everything has sprouted and is at least an inch tall.

I've only seen gas powered tillers be up to the job, but even if this thing is burly enough to till anything other than already pillowy soft loam, a 2.0Ah battery, from a nonexistent battery platform, is going to last for about five minutes.

Just rent a gas powered one. This one would take forever and tangle up with weeds. Something this small is only good for area that's already mostly clear of weeds.

I owned a small one from Black and Decker before, turned out to be mostly useless because it got tangled up with grass and weed. Ended up getting a manual tiller instead.
