Poles are aluminum, not fiberglass. That's a huge plus.

For light weight backpacking, I see how aluminum poles are an advantage. But for car camping, why does it matter?

Aluminum is usually stronger and lasts longer.

Pay attention to the bad reviews before you bite on this tent.

The reviews are both positive/negative.

Unsure what to expect… some rave about the rainfly's performance when others say theirs' are defective.

sounds like the tent fly does not come seam sealed from the factory. Otherwise this is a pretty common design for a 6-person backpacking style tent. At $120 and the time to seam seal it, seems like a decent deal.

Fiberglass poles require metal ferrules on one end of each pole segment, which can snag on pole sleeves and clips. That can make putting up and taking down the tent more of a chore. Worse, if the male end of pole segment doesn't fully seat in the ferrule on the next segment, the fiberglass can crack or splinter when bowed under tension. This has happened to me personally and I've seen it experienced by other campers over the years.
YMMV, but I consider fiberglass poles to be a dealbreaker for any kind of tent, regardless of whether weight is a consideration.

The negative review are all the same. Tent is full of holes after zero to three trips with it.

I can confirm this. 4 holes so far from idkwtf. The orange-red dye also transferred onto the grey portions on my canyon 6 that ive owned for about a year. The compression straps also have tears where theyre sewn in to the rest of the carry case. Klymit warranty service has been a pain to deal with so I'm running it to the ground instead.

I bought the 4 and 2 men versions from woot last year, neither held up in the rain. Nice tent for perfect weather though.
