Tough sell when you can get a new 77 C4 for about that. If it was a new B8 I would be interested but they want that much for a 65. Sony tax...

For another $100, you can get a brand new LG OLED Evo C4 77" 4K HDR Smart TV on Greentoe = $1699.00 (which includes tax).

This is the Bravia 8, unfortunately Sony doesn't offer the Bravia 8 II in anything over 65", I guess they don't want to cannibalize their $$$$ A95L pricing I guess :/

-As someone that has an A80L 65" and wants to upgrade to a 77" Sony OLED.

Yep I meant "new B8" as in NIB and not refurb. Not B8 II, which I would not in any case compare to a C4... or expect to find for anything close to this price. It's almost double the price and a 2025 model unlike the others.

I really dig the picture on my Sony OLED. Google interface sucks (but what TV on-board ecosystem doesn't), and I had my original OLED pop a scanline randomly. Sony was great though, couldn't replace the original TV (under warranty) but sent me a brand new version of the following year's model. "A" for customer support.

They send some folks refurbs, which is acceptable under the terms of their warranty.

Tough to see it as a strong deal compared to what LG's offering on similar models. A lot of us have been holding out for real discounts on the Bravia 9 (miniLED) or A95L, but nothing compelling so far. Maybe Sony keeps production smaller than LG, so there's less pressure to move inventory.

Yeah I would 100% get a NIB C4 rather than a refurb B8 for the same money. Sony is nice and I prefer GTV over the busy WebOS but it's not really worth the markup in most cases, unless you need the ATSC 3.0 or strongly prefer the DTS passthrough (no longer there for C5 unfortunately, C4 has it).

The 65 A75L for 1200 was a solid deal. Not as bright as a C4 (or C3) ofc but for people watching movies in dark rooms that's still a very good set, albeit a 23 model which some would consider a negative. I think Sony tends to have somewhat better uniformity too on average.

The price being so stubbornly high these days is a bummer though. It seemed a lot closer in the time of the J's but since then they have stayed high while LG is leading on the volume/discount pricing with Samsung also competing strongly on the race to the bottom. Guess it makes sense as they are huge and build their own panels with their display companies so presumably sell to their electronics companies at a discount whereas they charge Sony more and thus they have to find a different nitch with the premium crowd.

Was looking at it this morning but I will wait for a deal on a new B8. I don't mind refurbished items but only when it's a couple hundred bucks and cheap. I sent them a eBay chat asking to confirm if this is manufacturer or third party refurbished. This was 5 hours ago and haven't heard back... Kind of concerning the slow customer service.

It's crazy haven't seen deals on Sony TV's recently but everyone else is doing deals.
