Good shoes cost money. I used to be a firm believer in $50 or under shoes until I hit my nid 30s and my feet were screwed up. Now its nothing under $120 (pre sale) for me.

I'm not trying to be a jerk here and I know this isn't for everyone by have you considered minimalist or barefoot shoes? healing the feet to get to proper function? The Foot Collective on YouTube? Movement by David? Squat University?

I went through the exact experience. My feet started feeling sore after long games of basketball, and I thought I just needed to do more stretching before playing. Later, I got plantar fasciitis and started doing some research. I started wearing Adidas Ultraboost to work, Hoka recovery slides at home, and other shoes recommended for plantar fasciitis. Comfort and health became my main concern with shoes rather than fashion. I haven't bought any Hoka shoes (just the slides) since they seem to rarely sell below $90, but this sale caught my eye.

Purchase some Hokas, On Clouds, higher end New Balances, ASICS, and you'll understand. I use to be adamant about not spending more than $60 on new shoes. Now I won't pay for any Famous Footwear crap. Recently spent $160 on some Nike Vomero 18's, and have zero regrets

I have these. Great for casual shoes but not intended for athletic wear or any significant running.

I was surprised to discover that the old Five FIngers minimalist shoes are still around. Apparently owned by by Vibram now. And not cheap at all! I tried these years ago but they really don't work well for trail running with rocks and scree and gravel. Not enough insulation on the bottom of the shoes.
