Don't expect to avoid the "you must have a meta subscription" to use this device. It is possible to get a developer's subscription (free, real name not needed) and use sideloading via sidequest (and I've managed to sideload steamVR and playVR, my two "must have" apps), but so far I can't manage to install any apps from the meta store even after adding a meta (real name) account (granted this was for a quest2, but most of the account issues are the same).
Note that most of the apps that sidequest lists really have to be installed from the meta store.
If you don't try any such shenannigans, I expect the device to mostly work as promised. Unless meta decides to brick your device, then you're stuck.
Must have been a price error previously that has now been corrected. If it continues to show as 249, then this is still a better deal than this same version with a case on Amazon, but not as good as with the previous price error.
