No. Amazon Basic ANY NiMh have not been made in Japan for years.
Likely better than the 2400mAh version.

Needed rechargeable AAs anyway. Good price for 16 of them. Thanks OP!! Amusing that my Prime Days purchases have consisted of 2x of 48ct AA Alkaline batteries and 2x 16ct AA Rechargeable batteries

Bought these a few years back and never had good luck with them, didn't use them heavily and they stopped holding charges after not too long.

General reports online are saying similar things - don't last as long, and eneloops (even though quality has gone down), still worth the premium since you'll get the years out of them.

Apparently IKEA rechargeable are rebranded Eneloops and should last a long time.
