Do we need to be the primary prime account owner to qualify? I share an account that's not under my name and the account owner doesn't have a prime card.
i think everyone's maybe asking the same thing here, but yes, if you go to the page, immediately underneath the huge bold "Looks like you already have Prime Visa" message, is another same-sized huge bold "Not a cardmember?" heading with the link to apply, so, yes, you can apply even if your spouse has a card already, which was what i did (but several years ago when my hard pulls were down). this i think is also the highest i've seen the signup bonus go, so, a good a time as any!
not sure on the prime trial qualifying for applying for the card, but the card automatically downgrades and upgrades (without sending a new card until the existing expiration date) as your prime membership qualification changes, i.e. if you're the main authorized user adult person (i forget what it's called, but there can be only one) on a prime account, you still qualify. afaik that authorized user person needs to apply from their own account, but it should specifically tell you during the application process if you qualify for the prime version (5%) vs. regular (3%). hope this helps!
If you do not get your GC after 24 hours, you have to contact Amazon and not Chase. It was a pretty painless process and took less than 10 minutes via chat once I was finally connected to a CSR. (This happened to me on a previous promo)
My wife has the primary account. For my (shared) account I'm getting "we're giving you a $50 Amazon Gift Card instantly upon approval". She doesn't need another credit card (believe me), and a $50 credit isn't worth it for me.

If not, is there any prime free trial or similar that'd work for spouse opening an account just for credit card?
