This screwdriver, while kinda neat - has been the same price for months. I don't think it can safely be called a slick deal.

Looks like Amazon is matching a price from ACME, which also is selling this for $29.99. I love Wiha, but you have to watch, as a lot of their stuff is now made in Vietnam. That said, ACME's website shows COO as Germany (which I think all Wiha Slimlines are made in Germany). All that said, this is a very good price.

Seriously, that's a downgrade.

So weird that people need insulated screwdrivers so their wittle hands don't get cold.

Joke falls so flat it might be considered electrifying

Not only is the LTT screwdriver more than double the price of this wiha, but it isn't insulated, and the bits are stubby. If you take a look at something like this [a.co], the stubby bits aren't long enough to reach the terminal screws because the shaft is too large to get in the hole (wink wink). The LTT screwdriver is honestly overpriced and nothing special. If you want a multi-purpose screwdriver for basic at-home diy projects, you're better off getting one for $10 from your local hardware store. I personally prefer this [a.co] alongside extra long bits and an all-metal magnetized screwdriver wrapped in some electrical tape for applications that don't require an insulated driver. Edit: Formatting is hard

Keep in mind Wiha owns that Vietnam factory. They actually moved a bunch of their machinery there when they started moving production, so all the stuff they moved should be the same quality. I'd still prefer they kept it in Germany but it's not as bad as when some companies outsource to a third party mfg.

As much as I love the LTT screwdriver, it's not a replacement for this VDE driver.

I paid a good bit more than this on Black Friday, which was the lowest I'd seen.
I love this thing, but be aware that this does not take regular bits and the slimline bits do not fit in other screwdrivers. The slimline bits are a bit pricey as well, but I only had to order one additional set to cover my household basics.

It doesn't matter where that screwdriver is made. What matters is the quality control imposed by the manufacturer.

From the Amazon link: "Individually tested to 10,000 volts AC and rated to 1,000 volts AC (1,500 volts DC) for safety and peace of mind". And the screwdriver in the OP is VDE-certified (although unfortunately that not explicitly stated on the Amazon link).

Are you going to refuse to buy an iPad because it's made in China? Or AirPods because they are made in Vietnam? Or an iPhone because it's made in India? Of course not, because people buy Apple products based on the brand's reputation and track record, and they generally don't know or care where it is made.

And that goes for Wiha as well. The mindset that this screwdriver might be inferior because it is made in Vietnam instead of Germany is so dated.

Sure, I am actually aware of this -- but, do note, that Wiha tends to produce some of its best tools in Germany. So, if it's made Wiha and it's made in Germany, then it's probably one of their better tools.

Wow, you're really not living in the real world. Hey, if you don't care where anything is made, then good for you. If you had enough money to buy a Porsche 911, would you really be okay with it being made in Mexico, and not Stuttgart? Maybe you would, but many would not. Snap-On tools get a premium partly because most of their hand tools are made in the USA. The same goes for many things made in Japan - such as chef knives - Japanese made knives get a big premium of knives made in China. Wiha tools that are made in Germany are often from Wiha's top tier tool lines. They make many of their lower end products in Vietnam. The idea that people like you don't care at all where something is made is part of the problem with some of America, today. You SHOULD care. There really aren't any options when buying cell phones -- they're pretty much all made in China or Vietnam (at least the ones sold in America).
