who's still buying the Metabo/Hitachi power tool platform at this point? It's clinging on for dear life. I still own some and they're fine but it's over

I inherited an old set from a contractor who likely used them hard daily and all the tools and batteries continue to work flawlessly. I'm always itching to jump over to Milwaukee or DeWalt but my Hitachi tools just won't die. I've added a couple of the newer Metabo tools which have been working great too. Their lineup isn't nearly as deep as some other brands (non-existent lawn/garden), but the quality still seems high.

I picked up a set a few years ago for a great price, and when my drill started acting up, I called Metabo only to find that all of the tools in my set came with lifetime warranty. They actually upgraded my drill when I sent it off for repair.

I've debated switching over to another brand just so it's easier to find compatible batteries or accessories, but these work well. I *have* been wondering if other brands have more efficient tools though. I know my orbital sander eats through the 2Ah batteries like crazy.

Metabo is severely underrated. I've used their tools for about 15 years now. Warranty is great. I would skip these 2mah batteries. 3mah is the lowest you want to go if you're using these daily.

I have a bunch of MHPT tools. They have one of the best impact drivers, some of the best cordless nailers etc and for DIY / woodworking (not really mechanic) they have a good spread. The 36V line has some really great larger power tools and there's a real advantage in being able to use 36V batteries/chargers with the 18v tools, or using the AC adapter. They recently came out with tabless batteries, if for some reason you think the line is dead.

I also find the 2ah batteries fine for around the house work.

The big problem with this deal is MHPT routinely sells tools in kits with 2x2Ah batteries so you'll have lots of them just from picking up other deals, there's little point in buying 2Ah batteries standalone.
