As someone who clicked the link, there is an option on the same product page for HomeKit for $21.99.

Very few IoT devices support 5 GHz.

Sreeves3 I'd be surprised if your router doesn't support 2.4Ghz, most (every one I've seen) 5Ghz are dual mode....it's really the setup that throws dual band routers and IOT.
I have a google wifi that chokes on just about every 2.4Ghz IOT devices during setup, but if you have an older phone that only supports 2.4Ghz, it bypasses those issues. Once everything is setup I don't have any issues and have multiple 2.4Ghz IOT devices on the network. I can't guarantee the same success for you, but I've got an eclectic mix of 2.4Ghz (Merkury, Wemo, MagicLight etc) peacefully coexisting in the google home app.
Might be an option if you have an older android or an iphone 4 or earlier.

The Matter compatible ones are a bit more expensive, but more future proof IMO

once you've gotten too many of these, you wish you had zigbee ones instead.

The coupon only works once. However, I switched to my other adult account to use it again. Remember, one Amazon account can have two adults share it.

I'm guessing the 5Ghz radios are more expensive, and I don't think the majority of IoT devices need the additional speed of 5Ghz. I like that my IoT WiFi devices are all on my 2.4Ghz band, not interfering with anything "human facing" on the 5Ghz band. I kind of think of 2.4Ghz as the "utility" band. I also believe the 2.4Ghz band makes up for in range what it lacks in speed versus 5Ghz.

Why would you even want this clogging up your 5Ghz network? Just activate the 2.4Ghz antenna, create a separate SSID for it, if necessary, and put these devices on there. In fact, I'd argue for creating 2 separate SSIDs, one for the 2.4 and one for the 5Ghz. Any low end IoT device should go on 2.4Ghz to avoid putting too much traffic on your 5Ghz network for no apparent benefit.
