Yes, you are right, but that's basically only for erythritol, which has a glycemic index of ~0. This is made with maltitol, which has a glycemic index of 35, where actual sugar has a GI of 65. You could subtract only about half of the grams. Maltitol is also significantly more likely to cause bloating and possibly laxative effects than erythritol if your body is not acclimated to it. It's cheaper and more calorically dense than erythritol, which historically gets a bad rep on this website despite being easier to digest and better for you. It accounts for the very sweet taste you get from Pure Protein bars, since those also have it.

Lmao apparently you haven't learned anything in all these years either. Protein doesn't make you fat. Consuming more calories than you use makes you fat. End of story.

19 net carbs per bar kills this deal. At least for people who care about that. Also 250 cals per bar is way too much

Pretty sure you remove the sugar alcohol so 14 net carbs. Overall not that bad.

just a note in case the 25 year old version of me is reading this-Things labeled "protein bars" and "protein shakes" are going to make you fat some day. You get plenty of protein from the rest of your diet.

The generally-accepted guideline for lifters is to consume 1g protein daily per pound of body fat. Bars like these are only meant to supplement a healthy diet and make up for protein or cravings, not replace real food. That being said, the macros and taste aren't the greatest with these.

Correct. I aim for 100-150g a day. While the macros are not amazing on these, they are a solid option to mix it up a little IMO.

I think you mean 1g of protein per pound of LEAN body mass.

I definitely do not get enough protein from my diet. The only days I get close to enough are the days I have protein shakes or bars.

Got these a couple days ago at Costco, I think around $20 for 18 bars. I think they taste pretty decent, I like them a little better than Clif's Builder Bars.

I imagine these might be pretty good frozen if they taste anything like Reese's at all

Even this is outdated. Latest research says that to maximize muscle gains, you should target 1g of protein per pound of total body weight: https://www.strongerbyscience.com...n-science/
