I bought 2 for my kid and myself. with Firetoolbox, it's amazing android devices just good enough for streaming! I also use Moonlight and I don't have any problem with input lags and such.😀

If there were a solution for Google's family link, I'd be a lot happier with Amazon tablets for my kids. Yes, I have them, but I do regret it overall. Amazon's kid mode is terrible, so that's not a solution. I wish I had spent a bit more money and bought non Amazon tablets for the kids.

an amazon tablet shouldn't be over $100 imho. Can't believe its normal price is the sale price of new ipad 11 A16 lol

There used to be a Fire HD 10 Plus, which was the same as the regular Fire 10, but had 4gb of RAM and wireless charging. It looks like they discontinued it unfortunately. I've been burned on cheap Amazon tablets in the past, they all slowed down to become unusable. I took a chance on the 10 plus a couple years ago and it's still working great. That extra gb of RAM makes a world of difference.

It looks like the only way to get 4gb is going with the 11 Max. Is it worth that much more? I can't say, but it has the best chance of staying functional.

psa - amazon fire os in these things has been restricting the use of certain apps for over a year now, so while these are always a competitive buy, you may want to be sure an app you intend to depend on will still work in this thing. i'm not taking about sideloading, rather apps from the google app store that are tablet compatible, yet amazon os refuses to allow to be installed here.
case in point; WeChat - which is in the google play store in daily use by over a billion people, will install on a tablet (even without a sim card) yet amazon blocks it instead, for unknown reasons.

Amazon is just not good at making tablets, I mean you can install firebox and install Google Play Store but some android apps still wont be compatible and some of the apps in the Amazon Appstore can't even be updated. I don't even see a point in purchasing any new Amazon tablet when you can just find a cheap Android tablet that already has Google Play Store installed and the apps can be updated with no problem.

IPad does has much more power hardware, but its software is just sub-standard. Take a look at their TTS engine and compare it to Google. iOS robotic voice vs Google much more natural human voice.

Amazon Fire Max 11 tablet 128 GB, Gray, without lockscreen ads $141.49 out the door.

(old tablet 10 trade in gave a 38 rebate, along with an additional 20 gift card = $189 - $58 + tax = 141. purchased on the prime card...)

use it mostly for media consumption and casual web browsing...
