For the money, seems one can't go wrong here if you're not a gamer?

I had this exact laptop until recently. Decided to sell it. I used it for playing BeamNG Drive, testing davinci resolve beta and video editing smaller videos. My gaming pc is obviously better with a ryzen 5700x3d so I didn't need it anymore. But I also loved the build quality, the webcam and speakers were great for zoom. Upgrading the ram to 32gb made it possible for better video editing because of shared system ram, I could actually get 12gb video ram with that setup which is more than my desktop. So it had that going for it.

Thanks for letting us know the ram can be upgraded. That's huge! And I would assume not that expensive of an upgrade?

Only difference I see is no 2-year warranty. Although I don't know, however, how those warranties from Allstate are... and of course your link is 512 GB

I have an 840 (Intel equivalent).

've got it with 64GB of RAM and a 2TB SSD. I can fire up VMs and use it for demos or labs no problem. Battery life is still quite good. I like the tactile feel and lower weight of the X1 Carbon, but I'm sure some others would prefer this one.

The chassis is really strong, and it's a spillproof KB. IT would hold up quite well as a student laptop vs the typical cheapie Chromebook. You might want to put ChromeOS on it in those instances, so the kids are more likely able to get help from the school if they need it. This would also be great for a college student.

Yes. I have one and run it exclusively with a 60w usb-c charger. I sometimes use it with a 30w as well with no issues.

I just need a spare for web, video calls, some your tube, light cloud computing. I don't want to get lowest level spec that takes forever to load.

Just sprung for one! Will put more RAM in it with time, assuming it's not difficult to do if anyone knows? Hopefully it's just a matter of 8 or 10 screws on the back. Something like that...
