Let me guess, they can do whatever they want with your photos. No thanks.

Yes they have legal rights to your photos once it's uploaded.

Last time this was offered, I uploaded a couple photos of my couch and deleted them right after I received the credit a few days later.

As will virtually any tech company you use for cloud storage outside of maybe S3 glacier storage.

I'm an amateur photographer and have 4Tb stored on Amazon photos inclusive of my prime membership. Google one would be insanely expensive for me. Flickr pro has been an alternative I've looked into but honestly amateur photographers have begun leaving the platform as they continue raising prices.

When you get into my number of photos you really want a platform that allows searching which is a catch 22 as searching is useless without an ai model. I don't name my photos outside of what my camera defaults to but I will create subfolders with dates. I've found Amazon photos search model to be quite robust, e.g. searching "Victoria crown pigeon taken on June 2024" will actually net results.

I understand it becomes morally questionable as technology progresses, however a lot of it is just tin foil hat nonsense. It's like not using gps on your phone as you don't want Tim apple knowing you frequent Thai ladyboys. It's nonsense.

Pfft, same. Never used their photos app and not eligible. But as others have said... not like I'm going to give them all my photos and images anyways. They'll just propagate their AI models with them, pass.
