Awesome deal. I got this generator last year and it ran my house with 3 ton AC with soft start for 4 days without a hitch after hurricane Beryl.

Great deal for a portable inverter generator. Inverter generators are more fuel efficient and provide cleaner power causing less issues for electronics.

I have a similar open frame inverter Champion.

Just keep in mind while these are Inverter generators and advertised as quieter, they are still LOUD. Mine performs great but she screams.

I feel like the closed ones are quieter than these open framed ones. The only reason (I think) these could be quieter than regular generators is on "ECO" mode (i.e. low RPM).

Please confirm that what you have is has these wattage specs. 9k start and ~5k running for NatGas? What else did you run with the generator other than the AC and potentially fridge?

I can't imagine there's much more that can be run:
  • 3 ton AC = ~4000w
  • regular fridge/freezer = 1000w
  • lights = 150w
  • internet router/modem = 50w

I was thinking that if I bought this and connected at the breaker:
  • 2 ac units (small for BR, medium for living/dining/kitchen) = ~2000w
  • kitchen (fridge; water kettle/microwave/electric skillet) = ~2000w (not constant)
  • Entertainment (wifi/tv/ps5/laptop) = ~1000w
  • Lights & small electronics/chargers = ~200w

I'm trying to find out if one of these is better for me than a higher-wattage, non-inverter, tri-fuel for $100/200 less.

I torture tested this model with identical specs on natural gas after breaking it in. Ran my 3 ton A/C with soft start, every ceiling fan inside and out (5 fans), washer, gas dryer, microwave, dishwasher, every light in the house inside and out (all LED so super low draw), vacuum, refrigerator, garage chest freezer, two 65" TVs, and probably a few other items I'm forgetting. Zero issues. It comes close to max power when everything is running and the A/C initially kicks in, but in reality I would never have all of that running at once. After that initial A/C jolt, it runs at around 60%-70% according to the onboard meter. Backing off running absolutely everything in the house and using only the refrig, freezer, one TV, and A/C (more of a real life scenario in my home), I was around 30% capacity.
I haven't run this for several days as jchu14 did, only 1 day, but so far and very impressed. If you have a pair of larger A/C units, would probably have to manage which one is running (living space during the day, then turn off that breaker at night and switch on bedroom A/C).

Yes on NG.

Estimated Running Watts:
3 Ton AC - 3kw
Fridge - 150w (450w while defrosting)
Lights - 200w total, all on LED
water cooler - 450w
TV and wifi etc - 500w

That adds up to about 4700 watt.

That's about all that was running consistently. I was also able to run either the microwave or my GE heat pump combeo washer dryer. I never tried to do both at the same time since I didn't think it would be able to keep up.

My lights do noticeably dim for a moment when the AC kicks on, but I've never had issues with appliances or electronics shutting off due to power surge.

I did all of my cooking with a butane camping stove.

Did you have to have a minimum NG pipe diameter? Is it possible to hook up a NG QuickDisconnect (gray flex tube)?

To broader audience, is it possible to throw a muffler in-line to reduce the noise production?

So tempting but seems like it may be cutting it too close to try and run on a 4 ton AC using NG…

This sounds like a no brainer. But I'm new to such things and can't decode some of the finer points y'all have mentioned. Aside from how loud is it, no major red flag, true?

What's the difference between the extra coverage from HD vs Amazon. If I'm reading correctly, Amazon's 4 yr is ~$100 less than HD's 3 yr. But I'm not sure if it's the same type of things covered.

Finally, approx how much am I going to pay to be able have this pump power directly into my box? Along the same lines, a plumber to get access to the NG? How much?

Mine came with a 1/2" 24ft natural gas grey flex hose. I don't remember exactly what fittings and connectors came with the hose in the box though. I remember having go to to Home Depot for a fitting.

I had a plumber install a quick connect female on the house side. So to hook up the generator, I just have connect the male quick connect end of the hose to the house and female to the generator.
