I just got this. As always, wattage don't matter much. It has all the nice modern feature Dolby Atmos surround DTS vision 8K eARC CEC HDMI 2.1a 4K120hz blah blah blah.

So basically it supports all the nice new tech under the sun and the only downside is 5-channel and shit room EQ software (please don't use it!). But for $200 it's literally the best thing to get started. You would have to spend several times more money to get something that is an upgrade from this.
Can't tell if you're being serious?

I would buy if it had smart home features, but can't ask for too much at this price ig.

Well said, by far the best $200 deal on a good AVR

Too good a price to pass for $200 shipped, this makes a huge upgrade in technology from my txsr607 from forever ago.

I did notice if you do search the part number on the website there's a ton of these in open boxes for less. I haven't heard anything negative on these units but makes you think when there's that many open boxes.

Still picked up one, thanks

I've had this for almost a year now as 5.1 and it's been wonderful. Never had an issue and would recommend it

If i didn't have a decent unit, i would snatch this up in a heartbeat. If you just need something to drive a simple surround setup you cant beat this receiver for the price

You're not making any sense just buy a smart plug and then you will have those same functions.

I meant that it should support stuff like Chromecast for streaming, Google assistant/Alexa for volume control. Plug would only work to shut it off (assuming this doesn't damage it). Most devices don't automatically turn on from standby after power has been restored. Still not a bad device by any means.

how would you put together a serious home theater setup without an AVR?

I'm not sure you know how serious home theater works. going with mid powered speakers only gets you so far. high end passive speakers are much better. and what decodes all the advanced surround sound formats? how would you setup something like a 7.2 system? how would you perform room correction? what if you need 5+ inputs? adding atmos speakers?
