I'll wait for the annual Humble RE bundle this year for $20 with a lot of RE games on PC.

I get what you're saying, but to clarify, it's not that your licenses didn't transfer, it's that PS4/5 are not backwards compatible with PS3 software. The licenses are still tied to your PSN account. There are some PS1 and PSP classics that you can claim on PS4/5 if you purchased them on PS3/PSP. There are also a few early PS4 games that supported cross-buy with their PS3 versions. But you're, right; on PC you can still play games from all generations. That is if you're willing to spend the time needed to get them running properly (I speak from experience).
Edit: And going forward, future PS consoles will likely be backwards compatible with everything from PS4 and up, just as PS5 is backwards compatible with PS4 games.

PS2 was backwards compatible and some PS3 were also. The PS4 stopped and started over as the popularity of the PS+ subscription became in the later life of PS3.
I think twice about supporting $ony because of that issue. I got a used ps4 and waited until a PS5 was $350 (Target BF 2023). Their PSVR1 games doesn't work for the PSVR2 which also soured some gamers.
