Generally yes, most Carhartt coats and hoodies are loose fit designed for movement or to be layered.

Like every other company, I'm always disappointed in Carhartt quality and price now. In fall and winter I LIVE in a Carhartt thermal lined hoodie - been wearing them for close to 20 years. The current version of this jacket is still OK, but nothing like the version from 20 years ago. The outer fabric pills more and feels less dense. The cuffs and waist, stretch out more, don't feel as substantial, and don't wear as well. I won't buy their clothing new any longer, I look for decent used stuff on eBay or Poshmark.
